Newer approaches in the treatment of asthma

Abstract: Asthma is a worldwide public health problem. The most effective anti-asthmatic drugs - inhaled ?2-agonists and glucocorticoids controls asthma in about 90-95% of patients. However, severe glucocorticoid-dependent and resistant asthma presents a great clinical burden. Therefore, reducing glucocorticoids - related adverse effects using novel steroid-sparing agents is needed. Furthermore, the mechanisms involved in the persistence of inflammation are poorly understood and the reasons why some patients have severe… Show more

“…Nowadays researchers are focusing on target based treatment. Piroxicam proliferative activated receptors, glucagon like peptide hormone β3-Adenoreceptor agonist, DPP-IV inhibitors, α-lipoic acid, liver selective glucocorticoid antagonist, PTB-1B inhibitors, glycogen synthase kinase involved in glycogen metabolism, fructose-1, 6-biphosphate as a therapeutic target for Type-II diabetes are the new approaches in the treatment of diabetes mellitus (Patel et al, 2013).…”

“…It is estimated that the number will increase to over 366 million by 2030 and that large increase will occur in developing countries, especially in people aged between 45 and 64 years. [3,4,5] Currently many countries face large increases in the number of people suffering from diabetes. [4] Different types of reported diabetes mellitus can be classified under following two categories:…”

“…Adaptation changes in neuromuscular junctions (NMJ) in this position are associated with lengthening and increasing the number of terminal branches of the motor axon [6]. At the same time, the number of terminal neurleulocytes, the cortical nuclei and the area of NMJ decreases [18]. According to some authors [17], the qualitative features of the restructuring of NMJ in the experimental streptotrozine DM should lead to the formation of unusual structures of active zones and a new histochemical characterization of the totality of NMJ in skeletal muscles at CD.…”
