New strategies for synthesis and immobilization of methalophtalocyanines onto kaolinite: Preparation, characterization and chemical stability evaluation

Abstract: This study presents results concerning the one-step synthesis and immobilization of a metallophthalocyanine on kaolinite as support/catalyst. X-ray diffractometry (XRD), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and infrared (FTIR), UV/Visible (UV/Vis) and X-ray photoelectron (XPS) spectroscopies, thermal analyses, textural analyses (BET) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) aided for the characterization of the materials. The FTIR, XPS and UV/Vis absorption spectra confirmed metallophthalocyanine formation. XRD anal… Show more

“…Additional evidence for the reaction of nitrile groups was provided by the analysis of XPS N1s spectrum for BPFCN‐325, as illustrated in Figure 2. The sample contains nitrogen mainly in the form of nitrile group (399.3 eV) and pyrrole‐like bonds (CNC) (398.8 eV) 30 . And the peak of CNC around 398.8 eV may be attributed to the crosslinking structures generated by the reaction of nitrile.…”

“…The amount of APTES involved in the intercalation/functionalization of Kao or Sap was determined from the thermal decomposition of the treated solid. 46 The experimental ratio between the number of moles of APTES per mole of Kao or Sap, X T , was calculated in three stages, by assuming that water was lost by condensation in different steps along the functionalization process. On the basis of the ideal formula, X T was 0.084 mol of APTES/(mol of Kao).…”

“…Thanks to their structural similarity with the naturally occurring metal porphyrin, metal phthalocyanine (Pc) complexes, a class of versatile functional molecules, were employed as bio-inspired catalysts, and the application of Pc as a Fenton-like catalyst was also frequently reported [ 27 , 28 , 29 ]. In practical applications, Pc was often prepared in the heterogeneous form for the prevention of the formation of inactive aggregates and the easy recovery of reaction media for recycling purposes [ 28 , 30 , 31 , 32 , 33 ]. Since the heterogeneous catalysis reaction often involves the diffusion of the reactants from the bulk phase to the external surface of the catalyst, adsorption of the reactants onto the catalyst, and catalytic reaction at specific active sites, the catalytic efficiency of the heterogeneous catalyst relies extensively on the adsorption process [ 34 ].…”
