New Scientific Contribution on the 2-D Subdomain Technique in Cartesian Coordinates: Taking into Account of Iron Parts

Abstract: The most significant assumptions in the subdomain technique (i.e., based on the formal resolution of Maxwell's equations applied in subdomain) is defined by: “The iron parts (i.e., the teeth and the back-iron) are considered to be infinitely permeable so that the saturation effect is neglected”. In this paper, the author presents a new scientific contribution on improving of this method in two-dimensional (2-D) and in Cartesian coordinates by focusing on the consideration of iron. The subdo… Show more

“…To do so, the electromagnetic modeling must incorporate, depending on the investigated problem, the different encountered phenomena: the rotor motion (for the electrical machines), the coupling with the electrical/mechanical/thermal circuit equations, the conductors overheating, the power supply (i.e., the nature and the waveforms), the end-effects... “…Thus, the designer are often reoriented to the way of (semi-)analytical models 1 [20] realized an overview on the existing (semi-)analytical models in Maxwell-Fourier mehtods with the local/global saturation. For decades, the saturation effect can be overcame by using a nonlinear MEC.…”

“…There are different methods for electrical machines analysis, and applications of these methods depend on the required accuracy and results [1][2][3]. Magnetic equivalent circuit is normally employed for quick analysis with acceptable but low accuracy.…”

“…Normally, the results have been compared with FEM results and in some cases tests results. In addition, some have considered the iron parts in SDA [2,3]. Generally, based on the above-mentioned works, this method considers the chosen eigen-function and assumes that the horizontal and vertical components of magnetic field in PMs and slots are merely odd and even functions, respectively.…”
