New EM Transmitter with Y3Fe5O12 Based Magnetic Feeders Potentially Used for Seabed Logging Application

Abstract: Abstract. Sea bed logging (SBL) is a new technique for detection of deep target hydrocarbon reservoir. Powerful electromagnetic (EM) transmitter is required for the transmission of EM signal underneath the seabed. New aluminum transmitter with yttrium iron garnet (Y 3 Fe 5 O 12 ) based magnetic feeders was used in a scale tank to increase the magnitude of the magnetic field. Yttrium iron garnet samples were prepared using self combustion technique at different sintering temperatures of 750°C, 950°C and 1150°C.… Show more

“…In recent years, many works have been made on polymer matrixbased nanocomposites filled with ferrite particles, such as Co-ferrite [4], Ni-Zn-ferrite [5], and Mn-Zn-ferrite [6], using different characterization methods [7]. In this paper, the transmission/reflection (TR) caracterization method based on Nicolson-Ross-Weir approach allows to calculate simultaneously the complex relative permittivity and complex relative permeability of the lanthanum iron garnet filled -PVDF polymer nanocomposite, from the S-parameters, the sample was placed in a rectangular waveguide over the X-band frequencies [8][9][10][11][12] , and with the ANSYS HFSS simulation, we can measure the reflection and transmission coefficients and calculate the complex relative permittivity and complex relative permeability of LIG/PVDF composites.…”

“…Sea bed logging is an application of the control source electromagnetic method which is used to locate an oil reservoir beneath the sea floor by measuring electromagnetic fields [1][2][3][4]. In the typical control source method a horizontal electric dipole antenna is towed by a surface vessel at a short distance 30 m above from the sea floor [5][6][7][8]. The dipole antenna transmits very low frequency electromagnetic waves with frequency ranges from 0.25 Hz -10 Hz due to low frequency transmitted energy propagates down through the subsurface [9][10][11][12].…”
