New cyanopyridine‐based π‐conjugative poly(azomethine)s: Synthesis, characterization and electroluminescence studies

Abstract: Four new Schiff-base type conjugative polymers (CPs), that is, Py 1-4 carrying a strong electron-withdrawing cyanopyridine scaffold coupled with different electrondonating aromatic/heteroaromatic moieties were synthesized from their respective co-monomers by simple poly-condensation route. They were subjected to structural, thermal, photophysical, and electrochemical characterizations and theoretical investigations in order to identify their suitability in polymer light-emitting diode (PLED) application. “…pyrimidine shares many properties similar with pyridines and is considered one of the most privileged scaffolds in chemistry [102][103][104][105][106][107][108][109][110]. Several drugs made from purines and pyrimidines have been shown to disable cancer cells in leukaemia, solid tumors, and lymphomas.…”

“…The integration of fused heteroaromatics like indole, carbazole, phenothiazine, and phenoxazine into a “push-pull" architecture has emerged as a highly effective design strategy for creating organic materials with diverse optoelectronic applications [ [13] , [14] , [15] , [16] , [17] , [18] , [19] , [20] ]. Carbazole-based dyes, have garnered significant attention in various optoelectronics contexts, thanks to their remarkable attributes, including facile functionalization at multiple positions, straightforward synthesis, hole-transporting capabilities, and high molar extinction coefficients.…”
