New and Interesting Fungi. 3

Abstract: Seven new genera, 26 new species, 10 new combinations, two epitypes, one new name, and 20 interesting new host and / or geographical records are introduced in this study. New genera are: Italiofungus (based on Italiofungus phillyreae) on leaves of Phillyrea latifolia (Italy); Neolamproconium (based on Neolamproconium silvestre) on branch of Tilia sp. (Ukraine); Neosorocybe (based on Neosorocybe pini) on trunk of Pinus sylvestris (Ukraine); Nothoseptoria (based on Nothoseptoria caraganae) on leaves of Caragana … Show more

“…The classification of the family Stictidaceae has changed over time [ 1 , 14 , 15 , 23 , 33 , 52 , 53 , 62 , 63 , 64 , 65 , 66 ]. Its detailed taxonomy was first studied by Sherwood, focusing on excipular structure, ascospore type, and biology [ 33 , 53 ].…”

“…Presently, Stictidaceae comprises 33 genera: Absconditella , Acarosporina , Biostictis , Carestiella , Conotremopsis , Cryptodiscus , Cyanodermella , Delpontia , Dendroseptoria , Eriospora , Fitzroyomyces , Geisleria , Glomerobolus , Hormodochis , Ingvariella , Karstenia , Lillicoa , Nanostictis , Neostictis , Neofitzroyomyces , Ostropa , Ostropomyces , Phacidiella , Propoliopsis , Robergea , Schizoxylon , Sphaeropezia , Stictis , Stictophacidium , Thelopsis , Topelia , Trinathotrema , and Xyloschistes [ 1 , 14 , 15 , 64 ]. Generic classification in the family is challenging, given that the convergent evolution of ascoma types is frequent [ 19 ] and both apothecoid and perithecoid ascomata have evolved several times in separate lineages [ 33 , 73 ].…”

“…As for phylogenetic analysis for Diaporthe species, the use of a five-locus dataset ( ITS - TUB - TEF - CAL - HIS ) is the optimal combination for species delimitation as revealed by Santos et al (2017) . Thus, in recent years, many Diaporthe species have been described based on a polyphasic approach combined with morphological characterization and their host associations ( Guarnaccia and Crous 2017 ; Gao et al 2017 ; Yang et al 2018 , 2020 ; Crous et al 2020 ; Dayarathne et al 2020 ; Guo et al 2020 ; Hyde et al 2020 ; Li et al 2020 ; Zapata et al 2020 ).…”

“…Notes — Coleophoma includes species that are plant pathogenic or saprobic, occurring on a wide range of plant hosts ( Crous et al 2019b , 2020b ). The genus was revised by Crous & Groenewald (2016) , and shown to reside in the Dermateaceae ( Leotiomycetes ), with morphologically similar taxa also clustering in Dothideomycetes .…”
