The purpose of this research is to reveal the feelings and thoughts of physics teachers towards Algodoo training within the scope of the 4005 TUBITAK project named Innovative and Technology Supported Applications in Physics Education. This study was carried out with phenomenological research within the context of the qualitative research approach. The study group of the research consisted of 22 physics teachers trained in the 4005 TUBITAK project and volunteered to participate in the research. Data were obtained from semi-structured interviews. The data were carried out following the descriptive analysis method with the help of the NVivo 9 program. As a result of descriptive analysis, four categories emerged. These are the installation and application of the Algodoo program, physics teaching activities, and apps similar to Algodoo and Algodoo training. Based on the findings obtained from the research, it was concluded that most of the teachers were very interested in using Algodoo in their lessons, could benefit from Algodoo in their lessons, and could prepare simple physics simulations. Based on the results, Suggestions such as disseminating Algodoo training with in-service training for teaching physics subjects with interactive applications were presented to those interested in the subject.

During the periods of sudden transition to online education, the opportunity to make applications that might attract students’ attention to the course has decreased even more. Although this deficiency tried to be eliminated with videos and simulations, it was not possible to ensure the active participation of students in some cases. In this study, the Algodoo program, which can increase the efficiency of the teaching environment by ensuring active participation of students in online lessons and the applications that can be done about impulse and momentum, are explained in detail. A total of six different applications were carried out, one related to the subject of impulse, one related to the momentum, two related to the relationship between impulse and momentum change, and two related to momentum conservation. At the same time, while developing these applications, the adjustments made on the simulation and the reasons are explained in detail. In this way, both the introduction of the program and the sample application suggestion were presented. The values obtained as a result of the applications were calculated and compared both theoretically and on simulation in different ways. As a result, it has been observed that the values have internal consistency with each other and are also compatible with theoretical calculations. The Algodoo program, which allows many interactive applications and can be downloaded for free, is a program that can be used both in lecturing and evaluation processes in physics lessons during the online education process.

In a physics lesson when you ask the question “What force makes a car accelerate?” the most frequent answer you get from your students is “The force of the engine.” Obviously, the role of the engine is important, but the acceleration is dependent on external factors, since an object cannot exert a force on itself to change its own momentum. Even a car with a very powerful engine will be unable to start on ice or in deep mud or sand. On the other hand, a weak engine is unable to make a heavy car move. In this paper, we present a simulation-backed approach supporting the teaching of this topic in secondary school. The simulations were created in the free program Algodoo.
