Neurocognitive improvement after angioplasty in patients with chronic middle cerebral artery stenosis and cerebral ischemia

Abstract: Background: The use of middle cerebral artery (MCA) angioplasty compared with drug therapy has been controversial. Few studies have reported the correlations between cognitive function improvement and MCA angioplasty. This study aimed to explore neurocognitive function after angioplasty in patients with middle cerebral artery stenosis (MCAS) and objective cerebral ischemia. Methods: We identified 14 patients diagnosed with MCAS aged 45-65 years. Neurocognitive function evaluation was performed by 2 independent… Show more

“…Thus, for patients who have M1 stenoses but no cerebral infarction in a large area, stent angioplasty of the stenosis will significantly improve cerebral hypoperfusion by ameliorating the hemodynamic status at and around the stenosis even though the hemodynamic stresses of sub-satisfactory recanalization have not been restored to the optimal status after virtual stenosis removal. From the perspective of hydrodynamics, this study has proved the clinical value of "sub-satisfactory" recanalization by stent angioplasty for patients with severe stenosis of the MCA M1 segment (13,(33)(34)(35).…”

“…Konsumsi vitamin K dapat mengurangi aktivasi GGC yang mengarah pada pengurangan sintesis sulfatida dan penghancuran selubung mielin. Berkurangnya fungsi GAS6 dapat secara langsung menyebabkan aktivasi inflamasi pada sel glial (Kong et al, 2021).…”

“… 6 Furthermore, various studies 7 have recently revealed that CTP might become an important alternative for the visualization of cerebral and neuronal functional deficits in early dementia. There is a positive correlation between cognitive function and brain perfusion, and a study 8 has reported that significant brain perfusion corresponded to significant improvement in cognitive function. However, the relationship between CTP and CI during the acute phase of stroke remains unknown.…”
