Neural‐network‐based space‐vector pulse‐width modulation for capacitor voltage balancing of three‐phase three‐level improved power quality converter

Abstract: In this study, an artificial neural-network (ANN)-based space-vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) for capacitor voltage balancing of a three-phase three-level neutral-point clamped converter with improved power quality is presented. The neural-network-based controller offers the advantage of very fast implementation of the SVPWM algorithm. This makes it possible to use an application specific integrated circuit chip in place of a digital signal processor. The proposed scheme employs single layer feed-forward… Show more

“…The parameters of the ANFIS controller are tuned offline. The detailed method used to design ANFIS is presented in [31][32][33][34]. However, to design the ANFIS current controller, five proposed ANFIS sets for input/ output variable are used as: (i) negative big (N e B i ); (ii) positive big (P o B i ); (iii) negative (N e ); (iv) positive (P o ); and (v) zero (Z e ).…”

“…The proposed method can be referred as an adaptive DTA technique, and it is effective against various types of voltage imbalance conditions and does not require any complex switching sequence design. However, it is It has been widely reported in the literature [60,108,109] that voltage deviations at the neutral-point Z of a NPC inverter are mainly caused by unequal operation of small and medium vectors. Therefore, in order to minimize the deviation, SVPWM algorithms are mostly designed based on Nearest Three Vectors (NTV) principle [58,107,110] Figure 16b.…”

“…Different control methods for voltage balancing and current control exist such as linear/nonlinear controllers, predictive model, fuzzy, etc [33][34][35][36][37]. Model Predictive Control or MPC uses a model of the system to predict the future behavior of the variables [24,27].One of the major advantages of the FCS-MPC compared to a traditional PI controller is the flexibility to control different variables, with constraints and additional 0278-0046 (c) 2015 IEEE.…”
