Indonesia is on the Ring of Fire and has the world's most active volcanoes. Volcanic activity has a significant effect on the landscape and on the people who live there. The difficulty of evacuating and helping victims requires hard work and sometimes even the safety of the rescue team itself. For this reason, high-tech tools are needed. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also called drones, have become a hopeful tool for remote environmental monitoring in recent years. The system design has a monitoring platform, gateway, and sensor nodes attached to the UAV, which monitors the content of toxic gas contamination in the air. Using IoT technology, sensor data is sent wirelessly to a central monitoring station for a thorough and accurate volcanic activity study. This system is a flexible and complete way to monitor volcanic activity, learn more about it, and make it easier to respond to disasters. Tests are also done to measure system speed, including latency, and determine network service quality. The results show that data is successfully sent in real-time from the sensor nodes to the monitoring system. The average Round-Trip time for the payload transmission is 446.046226 ms. This shows how well the system works to send data from the sensors connected to the UAV to the monitoring station. The UAV has sensor nodes and a monitoring system platform. These can be used to build and optimize disaster mitigation systems.

The issues of modeling and evaluating the characteristics of the LTE data link layer functioning are considered. Transmitting packets in the data link layer are represented by a probabilistic-temporal graph consisting of two subgraphs. The ﬁrst subgraph describes the operation of the HARQ protocol, and the second subgraph describes the operation of the ARQ protocol. The ﬁrst subgraph is nested within the second subgraph. The probabilities of correct reception, non-error detection, and retransmission of packets in the MAC and RLC layers and generating functions of the packet service time based on the HARQ and ARQ protocols are determined. With the help of generating functions, the average value, variance, and coeﬃcient of variation of the packet service time are determined. To calculate the average packet delay time in the LTE data link layer, the type of queuing system is selected, taking into account the coeﬃcient of variation of the packet service time. The analysis of packets' delay time in the network's data link layer is carried out for diﬀerent values of the intensity of packet arrival and the probabilities of a bit error in the physical layer of the network. For the sustainable functioning of the data link layer of the network, the limit values of the intensity of the arrival of packets are determined for a given probability of a bit error in the physical layer of the network.

The imminent wireless technologies are demanding fusion of several networks with diverse technologies. A convenient user device for such an environment is the multihomed host, which is capable of making use of simultaneous multiple connections of heterogeneous networks and smartly distributing/receiving data among them. The aim of this work is to develop a mechanism for assessing the multihoming concept and to propose a system model for increasing its applicability. The proposed model provided a novel user-centric scheme for multihoming for multi-radio access technologies (multi-RAT). It is considered an evolution of traffic offloading for gaining more capacity, higher data rates, and real-time services. This work assumes data classifications, evaluates and ranks the available connections, and utilizes the application data in an unequal load balance scheme. This is achieved by analyzing the performance of three of the most widely used alternative-choice for multiple attributes decision making (MADM) methods. The analytical hierarchy process (AHP), along with a utility equation, is applied to the system model for unequal load balance solution. The proposed model is targeting an energy efficient mechanism which satisfies application needs. Moreover, it reveals an efficient transmission mechanism for a better quality of service, traffic management, and availability solutions. The simulation results show that the proposed system surpassed its former counterparts.
