Network embeddedness and innovation performance: a mediation moderation analysis using PLS-SEM

Abstract: PurposeThis study examines the impact of network embeddedness (NE) on innovation performance in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and analyses absorptive capacity as mediator and openness as moderator.Design/methodology/approachData were collected from 209 employees of SMEs using a convenient sampling technique. Partial least squares structural equation modeling in SmartPLS was used to analyze the various constructs.FindingsThe results exhibit a positive and significant relationship in NE and absorpt… Show more

“…After data collection, the filled questionnaires were analyzed using SmartPLS software. Data collection tool must show consistency with the developed research model ( Rafiq and Chin, 2019 ); therefore study chose SmartPLS as it is widely used in business research analysis ( Kwamega et al, 2019 ; Cheah et al, 2020 ; Thaker et al, 2020 ; Tian et al, 2021 ). A total of 700 questionnaires were administered.…”

“…The questionnaire was used to collect data based on a five-point Likert rating scale similar to previous studies [68][69][70]. Data were collected in six months (June 2020-November 2020) to avoid common method bias, as suggested by [71].…”

“…When compared to large corporations, micro and small enterprises may have less influence on political parties in some emerging countries. Other probable explanation holds that this influence depends on how political ties are relationally, structurally, and cognitively configured [ 77 ]. Business bargaining power over political ties depends to a great extent, on business strength in the market; this is, in addition to other contextual market considerations [ 34 , 91 ].…”
