Neoadjuvante, adjuvante und palliative Chemotherapie des Peniskarzinoms

Abstract: Data on the treatment of advanced penile carcinoma especially for chemotherapy are very limited. Due to the results of recent studies there has been a shift to taxan/cisplatinum based regimens. Initial case reports also showed a response to targeted therapy especially antibodies against epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Nevertheless, a curative treatment by medicinal approaches alone does not appear to be possible for metastatic penile cancer and can be only cured by multimodal approaches, including neo… Show more

“…In small series, different adjuvant chemotherapy combinations have been reported to improve survival in responders; however, compared to outcomes in more chemosensitive cancers, a convincing penile cancer regimen is still absent, and possibilities to participate in international multicentre trials deserve attention. Results obtained by reversing the order of surgery and chemotherapy and delivering the chemotherapy in a neoadjuvant setting have been encouraging in patients with palpable fixed lymph-node metastases, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by salvage surgery is recommended in this group [1,49]. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy and neoadjuvant chemoradiation are being investigated further in a forthcoming international multicentre study, the International Penile Advanced Cancer Trial (InPACT).…”
