Since its inception as a modern and evolving discipline, psychology has been concerned with issues of human security. This think piece offers an initial conceptualisation of human security as a broad security concept that encompasses a range of interrelated dimensions that have been responded to by different sub-disciplinary domains within psychology. We advance an argument for a human security psychology as a connecting focal point for general psychology that enables us to bring knowledge from across our eclectic discipline into further dialogue. This is a necessary step in understanding better the state of current thinking on the psychology of security and as a basis for informing further theory, research and practice efforts to address issues of human (in)security. This initial effort is informed by Assemblage Theory, which offers a dynamic and contextually rich perspective on people as agentive beings entangled within evolving natural and social formations that can foster or undermine their experiences of [in]security. The article is completed with a brief agenda for advancing human security psychology.

Psychological resistance of student youth to information stress in the COVID-19 pandemic

Introduction. Self-isolation, accompanied by intensive inclusion in the digital information environment, has led to a deterioration in students’ psychological well-being and the emergence of information stress. Information stress is associated with the compulsive use of social networks, viewing aggressive news content, disseminating misinformation. The purpose of the study was to study the features of information behavior, psychological stability and ways to cope with information stress for Russian students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Study participants and methods. The sample consisted of 218 students from Moscow and Ivanovo aged 18 to 26 (M=19.5) (33% men, 67% women). A specially developed questionnaire was used to identify the features of students’ information behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic; to assess psychological stability and determine coping strategies in conditions of information stress, the methodology “Questionnaire of Coping Methods” (QCM) was used (R. Lazarus, S. Folkman, in Russian-language adaptation by T.L. Kryukova, E.V. Kuftyak, M.S. Zamyshlyaeva). Results and scientific novelty. The cluster analysis allowed identifying four types of students’ information behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic: phobic (20%), cognitive (45%), nihilistic (20%) and circulating behavior (15%). To a greater extent, in order to cope with information stress during the COVID-19 pandemic, student youth use constructive coping strategies for planning (xave = 58.5±21.7), positive reassessment (xave = 51.9±19.3), self-control (xave = 47.5±17.8), characterized by a purposeful analysis of the situation and possible behavior options, including the determination of personal development directions. Besides, a significant part of students resort to the use of destructive coping strategies of avoidance, confrontation, distancing, caused by negative experiences, leading to the circulation of unofficial information about the pandemic. Half of the respondents need social support. The regression analysis made it possible to identify predictors of psychological resistance (coping strategies) to information stress during the COVID-19 pandemic. Practical significance. The identified types of information behavior can be used in educational work with students and their psychological support in order to personalize the communicative impact, as well as in the monitoring system of students’ psychological state and their perception of risks, the level of awareness and trust in the information received, the adoption of established rules and the willingness to follow them.

The study presents the attitude towards money among adult Mongolians. The research focused on differences of the attitude towards money related to age, gender, and employment in Mongolian people. The aim of this study was to examine the differentiation of the attitude towards money of adult Mongolians related to satisfaction with life, the sense of security, and the role of socio-demographical parameters, such as age, gender, and employment. People's attitudes towards money seem to be acquired through education, professional experience, and monetary habits.People perceived money as a symbol of a sense of security, a marker of achievement or status, and the source of worry or anxiety. Researchers noted that money has a multi-dimensional psychological meaning. The research sample consisted of Mongolian people: A group of 300 Mongolians. The age of participants varied from 21 to 60 years old. Statistical Version 10.0 was used to analyze the data. The results showed that the attitude towards money depends on the satisfaction with life, the sense of security, and were different by gender and employment.Mongolians have strong tendencies to use money as a symbol of power and status. However, this tendency is stronger in the group of men in comparison to women, in this culture. Retention-Time was bigger differentiated by variable employment. According to the results, there was no significant difference in age. Furthermore, there were negative association between satisfaction with life and distrust in the group. They who have financial worry seem to be less satisfied with their life. The most number of people in Mongolian sample evaluated own income as average.The percentages of personal professional activity were the highest than another category in the group. The results of statistical analysis showed that differences of frequencies of some components of economic security were significant in the sample. In sum, our study will contribute to knowledge about the importance of general life satisfaction and feeling security on the attitude toward money. The results may be useful to create the program of economic education and program that will change attitude toward money. The results provide information about the cultural difference. The knowledge may be useful for better understanding other nations and integrating people from different cultures.
