Near-Infrared Responsive Doxorubicin Loaded Hollow Mesoporous Prussian Blue Nanoparticles Combined with Dissolvable Hyaluronic Acid Microneedle System for Human Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Therapy

Abstract: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most common cancers in developing countries particularly in those aged over 50. Traditional treatment is with surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these which often results in considerable discomfort to the patient. Here we describe a potential alternative which employs a near-infrared (NIR) responsive dissolvable microneedle system (HMPBs&DOX@HA MNs) made of hyaluronic acid (HA) with hollow mesoporous Prussian blue nanoparticles (HMPBs… Show more

“…It also showed significant synergistic effect of thermal ablation and chemotherapy in mouse tumor model. [125] ICG, as a small molecule photosensitizer, has excellent photothermal conversion efficiency and has been widely used in PTT of tumors. Such as HA MN mediated poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) nanotherapeutic systems co-loaded with paclitaxel and ICG, [126] and monomethoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-polycaprolactone (MPEG-PCL) NPs co-loaded with 5-FU and ICG, [127] both exhibit excellent tumor inhibition effects in percutaneous chemotherapy and PTT synergistic therapy of tumors.…”
