Nature‐inspired meta‐heuristic algorithms for solving the load balancing problem in the software‐defined network

Abstract: The growth of the networks has difficult network management. Recently, a concept called software-defined network (SDN) has been proposed to address this issue, which makes network management more adaptable. Control and forwarding planes are separated in SDN. The control plane is a centralized logical controller that controls the network. The forwarding plane that consists of transfer devices is responsible for transmitting packets. Because the network resources are limited, optimizing the use of resources in t… Show more

“…In this regard, job execution time and network traffic are reduced. Finally, studying the role of meta‐heuristics and nature‐inspired algorithms such as particle swarm optimization (PSO), genetic algorithm, imperialist competitive algorithm, ant colony optimization (ACO), memetic algorithm, bee colony algorithm, world cup optimization algorithm with the combination of fuzzy logic, and neural networks are very interesting lines for future research.…”

“…That is, a fair compromise between the two contradictory goals cannot be achieved. The second is to use an intelligent optimization algorithm to determine the optimal solution [24]. This method obtains an approximate optimal non-inferior solution set and cannot acquire an accurate optimal solution.…”

“…Thus, utilizing SDN to achieve better QoS will be the best solution for any other systems such as light weight control (LCD)‐based WSN . In the SDN, the load balancing problem is resolved by introducing a meta‐heuristic technique such as ant colony optimization (ACO), GA, and particle swarm optimization (PSO) …”
