The aim of this research is to detect nature radioactivity for gamma emitters (specific activity 238U, 232Th, and 40K) using NaI(Tl) detectors and alpha emitters (concentrations of 222Rn, 226Ra, and 238U) using CR-39 detectors in selected samples of grain that are collected from Kerbala governorate. Also, annual effective dose and some radiological parameters due to gamma and alpha emitters to assess the health risk were calculated. Results have been shown that the average value of specific activities for 238U, 232Th and 40K were 6.61±0.91 Bq/kg, 3.07±0.22 Bq/kg and 227.59±32.34 Bq/kg respectively, while the average value of alpha emitters concentrations for 222Rn, 226Ra, and 238U were 3.99±1.13 Bq/m3, 4.69±1.28 mBq/kg and 0.072±0.019 Bq/kg respectively. The results of average total of annual effective dose associated with the exposure due to gamma and alpha emitted from ingestion grain samples in the present study were 0.139±0.013 mSv/y and 0.172±0.047 µSv/y, respectively. The results of natural Radionuclide and radiological parameter hazard based on gamma and alpha emitters from grain samples were discovered to be within the world acceptable levels. Finally, natural radioactivity from the grain samples that collected from Kerbala governorate were safety for the human consumption.

In present study, natural radioactivity of 238U, 232Th, and 40K in selected samples of spices existing in the Iraqi market were estimated using gamma-ray spectroscopy with NaI(Tl). Also, it was determined some radiological risks parameters such as, radium equivalent (Raeq) and internal hazard index (Hin) in the present study. The results show that, the average value of specific activity for of 238U, 232Th, and 40K were 10.63±1.15 Bq.kg-1, 9.82± 0.67 Bq.kg-1 and 243.28±5.65 Bq.kg-1 respectively. While, the average value of Raeq and Hin were 43.35 Bq.kg-1and 0.144, respectively. The average value of AED total in the samples under study were 0.011 mSv/y which it is lower than acceptable limit according to UNSCEAR (2008). The results of natural radionuclides and radiological risks parameters in most the spices samples were far below the accepted of the world limit. Therefore, it can be concluded that spices samples may be used for eating without any health effects.

The present research aims to measure concentration of lead Pb214 in soil using remote sensing and GIS, associated radiological hazards in Baghdad, Iraq. Concentration of specific radioactivity of radioactive elements was measured and analyzed naturally and artificially in 48 soil samples for separate sites from Baghdad, Iraq using crystalline spectroscopy to detect germanium. The average radioactivity concentrations of lead were found, as it was found to have varying values from one site to another, as most of them exceeded the international permissible limit, as the highest concentration was recorded at 180 Bq in the sample H28 in Waziriyah district. Battery Lab (1), and the lowest concentration value is 40Bq in (H4, H15, H45) which represents (Dora Expressway, Mansour Street, Fuel Express, and Mahmoudiya Road 2). Remote sensing data techniques, and Global Positioning System (GPS) have been used to analyze the effect of the isotopic distribution of heavy bullets for the city of Baghdad. Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), concentrations were measured and observed. Results of interpolation maps showed isotope of lead is concentrated in the center and west of Baghdad, and then graded with fewer values in other sites.
