Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents in the Synthesis of Inorganic Nanoparticles

Abstract: Natural deep eutectic solvents (NDESs), as a new type of green solvent, are used in many fields, including industry in extraction processes, medicine, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, electrodeposition, separations, gas capture, biocatalysis and nanotechnology. Mainly due to their properties, such as simple preparation, environmental friendliness, biocompatibility and multifunctionality, they are being used in various fields of industry. This review aims to provide insight into the applications of natural deep eut… Show more

“…DESs were prepared by mixing a specific molar ratio of HBA and HBD directly into a flask. 29,30 Herein, for the first time, cobalt oxide nanoparticles were synthesized in deep eutectic solvent (choline chloride/ethylene glycol) by the ultrasoundassisted method for carbon dioxide capture. Furthermore, the selectivity, effect of porosity, enthalpy of adsorption, and adsorption capacity of synthesized Co 3 O 4 NPs were investigated.…”

“…[23][24][25] During the process of synthesizing nanomaterials, NADES serves as a pH controller, stabilizer, redox mediator, and green reaction medium. 26 Particularly, the non-occurrence of ionic species in thymol menthol-based NADES marks its convenience of usage in preparing functional materials. Furthermore, an important aspect of nanomaterials synthesized from thymol-menthol NADES is their status as generally recognized as safe (GRAS) materials by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).…”

“…In recent years, DESs have shown enormous potential for various applications thanks to their ability to solubilize compounds otherwise not soluble in classical organic solvents [20], such as separation and extraction processes [21][22][23][24], synthesis [25][26][27][28], biocatalysis [29,30], CO 2 capture [31][32][33], drug delivery [34][35][36], to mention just a few recent reviews.…”
