Precise revealing and early detection of 3-Nitro-L-Tyrosine (3-NLT), a biomarker of oxidative stress in biological media is critical for the early treatment of cancer tumorigenic cells and immunologic disorders. In this study, zinc tungstate (ZnWO4) was incorporated with functionalized carbon nanofibers (f-CNF) to form a ZnWO4/f-CNF composite. The composite improves detection of 3-NLT by increasing the electrical conductivity, electrocatalytic activity, and rapid electron transfer kinetics. Various physical characterization techniques were employed to confirm the ZnWO4/f-CNF composite. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and differential pulse voltammetry were utilized to detect 3-NLT after modifying ZnWO4/f-CNF on glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The ZnWO4/f-CNF/GCE achieved an elevated electrochemically active surface area (0.08 cm2), a linear range of 1.0-117.0 µM, and a low detection limit of 0.07 µM. Finally, the ZnWO4/f-CNF/GCE was tested with bovine serum albumin and tap water in the real sample investigation.

Despite their diverse application profile, aromatic organochlorides such as 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (TP) are widely renowned for creating a negative toll on the balance of the ecosystem. Strict regulatory regimes are required to limit exposure to such organic pollutants. By deployment of a straightforward detection scheme, electrochemical sensing technology offers a competitive edge over the other techniques and practices available for pollutant monitoring.Here, we present a streamlined hydrothermal approach for synthesizing copper−manganese layered double hydroxide (CuMn-LDH) rods to be employed as electrocatalysts for detecting TP in various media. With a focused intention to leverage the full potential of the prepared CuMn-LDHs, the interlamellar region is configured using a series of intercalants. Further, a thorough comparative analysis of their structures, morphologies, and electrochemical performance is accomplished using various analytical techniques. The electrocatalytic oxidation ability of the CuMn-LDH toward TP molecules is markedly altered by incorporating various anions into the gallery region. The dynamic attributes of the developed sensor, such as a wide linear response (0.02−289.2 μM), a low detection limit (0.0026 μM), and good anti-interfering ability, acclaim its superior viability for real-time detection of TP with exceptional tolerance to the presence of foreign moieties. Hence, this work manifests that the nature of intercalants is a vital aspect to consider while designing LDH-based electrochemical probes to detect priority pollutants.

In recent years, there has been a significant interest in the advancement of electrochemical sensing platforms to detect antipyretic drugs with high sensitivity and selectivity. The electrochemical determination of acetaminophen (PCT) was studied with strontium molybdate with a functionalized carbon nanotube (SrMoO4@f-CNF) nanocomposite. The SrMoO4@f-CNF nanocomposite was produced by a facial hydrothermal followed by sonochemical treatment, resulting in a significant enhancement in the PCT determination. The sonochemical process was applied to incorporate SrMoO4 nanoparticles over f-CNF, enabling a network-like structure. Moreover, the produced SrMoO4@f-CNF composite structural, morphological, and spectroscopic properties were confirmed with XRD, TEM, and XPS characterizations. The synergistic effect between SrMoO4 and f-CNF contributes to the lowering of the charge transfer resistance (Rct=85 Ω·cm2), a redox potential of Epc=0.15 V and Epa=0.30 V (vs. Ag/AgCl), and a significant limit of detection (1.2 nM) with a wide response range of 0.01–28.48 µM towards the PCT determination. The proposed SrMoO4@f-CNF sensor was studied with differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) techniques and demonstrated remarkable electrochemical properties with a good recovery range in real-sample analysis.
