NASA: A generic infrastructure for system-level MP-SoC design space exploration

Abstract: Abstract-System-level simulation and design space exploration (DSE) are key ingredients for the design of multiprocessor system-on-chip (MP-SoC) based embedded systems. The efforts in this area, however, typically use ad-hoc software infrastructures to facilitate and support the system-level DSE experiments. In this paper, we present a new, generic systemlevel MP-SoC DSE infrastructure, called NASA (Non Ad-hoc Search Algorithm). This highly modular framework uses welldefined interfaces to easily integrate diff… Show more

“…A second class of design space pruning is based on hierarchical DSE (e.g., [7], [14], [10], [5]). In this approach, DSE is first performed using analytical or symbolic models to quickly find the interesting parts in the design space, after which simulation-based DSE is performed to more accurately search for the optimal design points.…”

“…NASA [13] is also a similar tool. It allows the user to easily integrate his/her DSE algorithm and offers the possibility to connect to any simulator (features offered also by FADSE).…”

“…The authors of NASA [10] perform a DSE using single objective genetic algorithms for each objective. Multiple algorithms are used at the same time and a comparison between sets of these algorithms is made.…”
