Nanonet-/fiber-structured flexible ceramic membrane enabling dielectric energy storage

Abstract: Ceramics are considered intrinsically brittle at macro scale due to the lack of slip mechanism and pre-existing defects, which greatly limits their potential applications in emerging fields including wearable electronic devices and flexible display. In this contribution, we developed BiFeO 3 /SiO 2 dual-networks with exceptional flexibility through a coupled electronetting/electrospun method. The hybrid nanostructured networks endow the material with high tensile strength (2.7 MPa), excellent flexibility (80% … Show more

“…Dielectric capacitors exhibit a broad spectrum of applications and potential in areas such as hybrid vehicles, 5G communications, and pulsed power devices, due to their rapid charging and discharging rates, as well as their ultra-high power density. [1][2][3][4] Nevertheless, the relatively low energy density of dielectrics renders them inadequate for meeting the demands of miniaturization and lightweight in advanced electrical and electronic devices. [5][6][7] Consequently, the critical necessity for the development of dielectric materials with high energy density and low dielectric loss is imminent.…”

“…[5][6][7] Consequently, the critical necessity for the development of dielectric materials with high energy density and low dielectric loss is imminent. 8,9 In general, the energy storage density (U e ) of a dielectric material is related to the applied electric eld strength as well as the polarization, as shown in eqn (1):…”
