Nanomaterials for IoT Sensing Platforms and Point-of-Care Applications in South Korea

Abstract: Herein, state-of-the-art research advances in South Korea regarding the development of chemical sensing materials and fully integrated Internet of Things (IoT) sensing platforms were comprehensively reviewed for verifying the applicability of such sensing systems in point-of-care testing (POCT). Various organic/inorganic nanomaterials were synthesized and characterized to understand their fundamental chemical sensing mechanisms upon exposure to target analytes. Moreover, the applicability of nanomaterials inte… Show more

“…When switching to detecting mode, the real-time response signal in terms of the sensitivity (R a /R g ) was transmitted to the upper computer via serial port communication. 39 According to an open-source IoT project through the internet, 40 the upper computer could log the sensor data into the IoT cloud platform using the MQTT protocol and a published web application written in the cloud platform. In the display panel of the upper computer, the graphical display exhibited that the environmental temperature, relative humidity, and light intensity remained constant; although there was a small fluctuation, the average values were close to 25 °C, 90% RH, and 500 lux, respectively.…”

“…They are an effective alternative, offering tremendous potential for improving diagnosis and treatment. The present decade has seen the development of biochemical sensors integrated into smartphones and Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, which are often utilized for human health PoC testing [ 14 ]. These are often portable and cost effective, and they do not require any specific training to use [ 15 ].…”
