This work computationally explores the two-phase flow of nanofluids and their thermal energy transport coefficients in 3D diamond-shaped cavities with square-shaped barriers having reducing dimensions. Materials with two emissivity values, ε = 0.3 and 0.9, have been considered to investigate the effect of the radiation thermal energy transport coefficient while the hot side is maintained at 400 or 500 K. Two values of the Rayleigh number, Ra = 10 6 and 10 8 , are used for the study. Cu nanoparticles (NPs) with an average size of 25 nm have been used at a concentration of 0.01-0.05% in the base fluid. The temperature gradients and thermal energy transport coefficient characteristics are enhanced by raising the volume concentration of nanoparticles, but the streamlines do not alter substantially. By increasing Ra, the thermal energy transport coefficient rate is further augmented. It is also found that increasing the Ra and volume concentration of NPs results in enhanced heat transfer inside a cavity, while a change in the emissivity coefficient has no significant impact on the thermal and flow characteristics of the nanofluid. For each case, there is an optimum NP volume fraction for each model that leads to the highest Nusselt number.

Nanofluid can be used in a CPV/T solar collector to boost electrical and thermal performances as this technology has drawn great attention from researchers over the last decades. In a CPV/T system, the amount of collected heat could be significantly higher than the amount of electrical power. Combining thermoelectric generator (TEG) and nanofluid-based CPV/T system may result in better electrical performance than CPV/T system alone. In the present work, a nanofluid-based CPV/T-TEG hybrid system with a cooling channel was designed and tested, and the obtained performance was compared with conventional cooling methods [ie, natural cooling (CPV/TEG) and water cooling (WCPV/T-TEG) methods]. At the optimum value of solar concentration, C = 14.6, the electrical performance of the nanofluid-based concentrated photovoltaic/thermal-thermoelectric generator (NCPV/T-TEG) configuration was found to be 89% higher than the standard PV modules. Applications of Thermal Energy Storage in Solar Organic Rankine Cycles: A Comprehensive Review

Organic Rankine Cycles (ORCs) are promising approaches for generating power from medium or low temperature heat sources. In this regard, ORCs can be used to indirectly produce power from solar energy. Due to intermittent nature of solar energy, storage unit should be coupled with solar ORCs to improve the output power and operating hours. In this article, studies on solar ORCs integrated with various types of storage units were reviewed; the main findings of such studies were extracted and provided. Based on the findings, several factors such as the temperature and pressure at the inlet of the turbine, as well as the operating condition affect the performance of solar ORCs with thermal storage unit just like the conventional ORCs. In addition, the optimum size of the storage unit in the solar ORCs was found to depend on the operating condition. From the financial perspective, it can be noted that the storage unit affects the corresponding indicators. Moreover, the improvement rate in the ORCs by applying storage units could be affected by the configuration of the system.
