Nanocomposite Formulation System of Lipid-Regulating Drugs Based on Layered Double Hydroxide: Synthesis, Characterization and Drug Release Properties

Abstract: Nanocomposites composed of lipid-regulating drugs (BZF and CF) with LDH were successfully synthesized as a new formulation system of this drug category. The LDH nanocomposite formulation system has improved the drugs release properties.

“…In 2010, Berber et al [61] used the coprecipitation method to intercalate BFZ and CF into an MgAl – LDH host; drug loadings of 54% and 45%, respectively, were reached. The controlled release properties of BZF–LDH and CF–LDH were attributed to the presence of anionic species in simulated gastrointestinal solutions.…”

“…An interesting category of layered materials is hydrotalcites (HTlcs). HTlcs are used as adsorbents of pollutants [1,2], as catalysts [3], as catalyst precursors [4], as nanocarriers of bioactive materials [5][6][7] and as additives for polymers [8].…”

“…The removed aliquot was immediately replenished by the same volume of the used buffer, which was equilibrated at the same reaction temperature. The dissolution experiment of each sample in each buffer was performed in duplicates (Berber et al, 2010). Figure 10 (upper panel) shows the solubility of SUP drug powder at the different mediums.…”
