“…One of the best ways to decrease the level of Mn(II) ions in the environment is their adsorption onto Mn(II)-IIPs (see Table S8 ) [ 156 , 157 , 158 ]. For this aim, an interesting approach was recently developed by Aravind and Mathew who fabricated electrochemical sensors for Mn(II) ions by the modification of a platinum electrode using the IIP technique, with and without vinyl functionalized MWCNTs, which come with their high surface area, electrical, chemical, and mechanical stability, as well as easy electron transfer [ 158 ]. The functional monomer was MAA and the cross-linker was MBAAm.…”

“…To evaluate the selectivity of the Pt-MWCNTs-Mn(II)-IIP sensor, the sorption of Mn(II) in the presence of Co(II), Fe(II), and Cr(III) as competitive ions was investigated. It was found that only Mn(II) ions exhibited a redox peak current response while the other metal ions did not show any current response [ 158 ].…”

“…MWCNTs-IIPs had high selectivity for Cd-Cu mixtures, relatively high selectivity for Cd-Ni mixtures, and low selectivity for Cd-Zn mixtures. In 2019, they synthesized Mn 2+ IIP and composited with vinyl functionalized-MWCNTs by free radical polymerization to prepare an electrochemical sensor (Pt-MWCNTs-Mn(II)-IIP) for the detection of Mn 2+ [ 94 ]. The LOD of the electrochemical sensor was investigated with DPV and found to be 0.0138 μM, and the imprinted adsorbent showed higher selectivity and specificity for Mn 2+ compared to other metal ions.…”

“…A modified platinum electrode was then designed through immobilization of the above-mentioned polymer in nafion. Under the optimized conditions, Mn(II) ions could be sensed with a linear range from 1 to 5 ppm with an LOD of 0.0138 mM using differential pulse voltammetry [57].…”
