Myomectomy: A Reappraisal and Post‐Operative Reproductive Performance

Abstract: Su m marySeventy-two out of 108 patients that had myomectomy at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital from April 1973 t o March 1979 are reviewed. Myomectomy was a more favoured method of surgical treatment of uterine fibroid in the community than hysterectomy, (X2 = 13, P/Q.02). The commonest indications for myomectomy included infertility (69.4%), menorrhagia (58.3%) and dysmenorrhoea (56.94%).
