“…MOG is a glycoprotein located on the myelin surface and optic neuritis is the commonest presentation of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody disease (MOG-AD) seen in 54%–61% of patients [ 1 ]. There are two reports of SARS CoV-2 associated MOG-AD causing optic neuritis in a 15 and 26 y old [ 2 , 3 ].…”

“…Several case reports have already described acute transverse myelitis associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection, most of them being LETM. ( AlKetbi et al, 2020a , AlKetbi et al, 2020b , Chakraborty et al, 2020a , Chakraborty et al, 2020b , Chow et al, 2020a , Chow et al, 2020b , Kaur et al, 2020a , Kaur et al, 2020b , Maideniuc and Memon, 2020a , Maideniuc and Memon, 2020b , Munz et al, 2020a , Munz et al, 2020b , Sotoca and Rodríguez-Álvarez, 2020a , Sotoca and Rodríguez-Álvarez, 2020b , Valiuddin et al, 2020a , Valiuddin et al, 2020b , Zachariadis et al, 2020a , Zachariadis et al, 2020b , Zhou et al, 2020a , Zhou et al, 2020b , Zoghi et al, 2020a , Zoghi et al, 2020b ) However, only one case was found to be seropositive NMOSD, precisely MOG IgG antibody positivity, in a young Hispanic man with bilateral optic neuritis and LETM. Our case is novel in this aspect.…”

“…Multiple studies have found various ophthalmic manifestations such as hyperaemia, chemosis, epiphora, and increased secretion (5), however conjunctivitis, uveitis, retinitis and optic neuritis have been reported in feline and murine models (6). While, neurological manifestations of hyposmia, hypogeusia, headache, dizziness, altered mental status and GBS have been well established (4), there have been three case reports of SARS CoV-2 associated optic neuritis in a 15 year old boy with anti MOG-IgG positive NMOSD, a 26 years old man with bilateral MOG associated optic neuritis and myelitis and a 29 year old woman with Non MOG associated Optic Neuritis(7)(8)(9).Anti MOG associated ON is also frequently associated with viral infections (9-10) and our case adds to the body of evidence that SARS CoV-2 is another such virus that triggers MOG-AD.…”
