(2018) are destabilizing fern taxonomy, ignoring the fact that PPG I (2016) enshrined from previous publications an equally "unprecedented" number of new genera, newly recircumscribed genera and new combinations in many groups of ferns: Blechnum, 13 genera, 179 species name changes (Gasper & al., 2016); Grammitis, 33 genera, 868 name changes (Smith, 1993;Labiak & al., 2010;Kessler & al., 2011;Labiak, 2011;Sundue, 2014; among many); Osmunda, 2 genera, 5 name changes (Metzgar & al., 2018); and Trichomanes, 7 genera, 65 name changes plus resurrection of 54 old combinations in genera not used since the 19th Century (Ebihara & al., 2006), to name a few. Also, 310 combinations have not yet been made to comply with PPG I (Hassler & Schmitt, 2018), making the classification difficult to apply.…”
