Mycobacterium Avium Complex Infection of the Spine in a Patient Without Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome: A Case Report and Literature Review

Abstract: A 52‐year‐old patient misdiagnosed with spinal tuberculosis was successfully diagnosed with Mycobacterium avium infection using metagenomic next‐generation sequencing and cured with four‐drug combination protocol chemotherapy (amikacin, rifampicin, clarithromycin, ethambutol) and spinal fixation.
