MXenes hierarchical architectures: electromagnetic absorbing, shielding and devices

Abstract: Layered transition metal carbides or nitrides (MXenes), as a novel two-dimensional material, are widely used in the field of electromagnetic (EM) functions and devices due to their unique EM properties. However, the excessive conductivity of MXenes nanosheets often causes impedance mismatch, resulting in a single EM function. Moreover, original MXenes nanosheets are too small in size and needed to be dispersed in the matrix during application, resulting in inconvenience and unstable performance. Architecture s… Show more

“…The new generation of technology brings a new type of pollution, known as electromagnetic pollution, threatening any living species in the modern era. Hence, electromagnetic shielding materials have been developed to equip us against the burgeoning hazard. The microwave-shielding characteristics of the bioinspired/PS composites are depicted in Figure . The total shielding efficiency (SE T ) is calculated by the sum of the absorption (SE A ) and reflection (SE R ) shielding efficiencies. The shielding materials operating based on the absorption have been the hotspot, obtained by the tuned impedance matching.…”

“…Excessive electromagnetic radiation generated during the operation of electronic devices disrupts the normal functioning of precision electronic instruments and poses potential risks to human health. 98 Most existing electromagnetic shielding materials work through the reflection mechanism, leading to secondary severe electromagnetic wave pollution. Multiple components are advantageous for introducing various loss mechanisms.…”
