The COVID-19 pandemic has led to many fundamental changes in all education systems. Without adequate preparation and necessary infrastructure qualifications, many educational institutions started to implement online-based distance education systems. The benefits of online learning for music education depend on certain variables that affect the quality of online learning. One of these variables is readiness for online learning. In this context, on the basis of the causal-comparative model, the readiness of music teachers for online learning was examined by comparing them according to the variables of gender, professional seniority and type of school. The research was conducted on 203 teachers at secondary and high schools in Konya, Aksaray and Karaman using The “Readiness for Online Learning” Scale as a data collection tool. As a result of the analysis of the research data, significant differences were found in the levels of music teachers' readiness for online learning according to the variables of gender, professional seniority and the school they work at. According to participant opinions, the level of readiness for online learning of male music teachers, participants with low professional seniority and working in private schools was found to be significantly higher.

Problems and Opportunities of Concert Educational Work in Distance Conditions

The article discusses the problems of concert educational work in distance conditions, as well as the possibilities that are associated with this format of activities of musical educational organizations in terms of attracting a new target audience. The purpose of the article is to present the results of an empirical study, conducted by the author during the quarantine period on the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The research methodology is based on a systematic approach and includes a group of general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction), as well as a group of special methods: content analysis of scientific literature on the research topic; sociological survey method (questionnaire survey); method of statistical data analysis. The data obtained during the empirical study was processed using the advanced analytics program Neural Designer. The materials of the research were the answers of respondents to three questionnaires containing questions about the quality of concert and educational activities in a distance format. Based on the results of the empirical study, the author of the article came to the following conclusions: the main problem of the concert and educational work of music institutions in a distance format is the low level of awareness of the potential target audience about educational projects, which is associated with the lack of information about musical educational projects in social networks, as well as with the absence of online broadcasts based on a subscription in the media environment. Based on the identified problems, the author of the article provides practical recommendations.

The aim of this research is to determine the pre-service music teachers’ attitudes towards online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study investigated the attitudes of music teacher candidates toward online learning and if they differed by the variables of gender, year of study and academic achievement. The “Online Learning Attitude Scale” was used to collect data for the study. The study was conducted with 164 pre-service music teachers studying at the education faculties of Aksaray University, Çanakkale 18 Mart University, and Necmettin Erbakan University in the 2020-2021 academic year. The independent groups t-test and one-way analysis of variance were used in the data analysis. Results from the study suggested that pre-service music teachers’ attitudes regarding online learning in the COVID-19 pandemic were negative to moderate. In addition, the study indicated that the attitudes of music teacher candidates towards online learning differed by gender, year of study, and academic achievement variables during the COVID-19 pandemic.
