“…In the current study, we found that patients with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma with simultaneous SPT also had poor prognosis when compared with patients without. The possible explanation might be that the presence of simultaneous SPT increased the extent of concurrent resections, which potentially may cause an increased postoperative morbidity and mortality rate . Patients with postoperative morbidity theoretically can lead to delay of treatment plan, which eventually impacts the survival status.…”

“…Previous studies reported the rates of second primaries of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas varying from 8% to 21% . A study analyzing patients with laryngeal carcinoma showed a significant reduction of survival rate in patients developing a second primary tumor (SPT) when compared to those without . The 5‐year overall survival rate of patients with head and neck cancer with SPT was significantly poorer than that of patients without .…”

[1][2][3] Otopsi çalışmalarında tiroid dokusu içinde %35'lere varan oranda gizli papiller mikro karsinom tespit edilmektedir. Tiroid dışı kanser cerrahisine bağlı boyun diseksiyonu spesimeninde rastlantısal olarak saptanan tiroid karsinomu %0.7-3 arasında belirtilmiştir.…”
