The prominent characteristic of the lower part of the Sargelu Formation of the Middle Jurassic is the occurrence of destructive dolomitization. This dolomitized unit, cropped out in the high folded and Imbricated zones in Northern Iraq, is situated in the Gotnia Basin and has been distinctly identified and are documented in previous studies. Dolomite crystals are euhedral in shape; hence, they are classified as saccharoidal dolomite, resulting in the elimination of all biocontent and the destruction of the original rock fabrics. Despite the abundance of intercrystalline pores in this unit and their role in the quality of reservoirs in the oil fields, the origin or mechanism of dolomitization is not well understood yet. The aim of this investigation is to find out a suitable model for the dolomitization and to propose possible mechanisms that led to the dolomitization. At the top of the Lower Jurassic Sehkaniyan Formation, an extensive mass of destructive dolomitization has also occurred. The dolomitic unit of the Sargelu Formation, which extends for hundred kilometers constantly. Stratigraphic correlation reveals that the Sargelu Formation is juxtaposed with different successions, such as the Alan and Sehkaniyan formations, that show evidence about peritidal and sabkha environments, where the dolomitization units were associated with solution collapse breccia and microbial stromatolite. This study proposes that the reflux and burial dolomitization models for the lower part of the Sargelu Formation by comparing the paleoenvironmental conditions of the late Lower Jurassic and early Middle Jurassic in the Gotnia basin with a modern analogue model.

In view of the fact that the face-end roof fall under repeated mining of close-distance coal seams seriously affects the normal production of the working face, this paper takes working face 17101 as the background, different influencing factors of face-end roof caving exposed to repeated mining are analyzed through field observation of mine pressure data, different calculation schemes are obtained by using the orthogonal experiment, the subsidence of the face-end roof is taken as the judgment index, UDEC simulation software is used to calculate the subsidence of the face-end roof when different influencing factors change, and the application of SPSS statistical software is used for various parameters of multivariate linear regression analysis. The research results show that the influence degree of different factors from large to small is, respectively, mining height > tip-to-face distance > advancing speed > distance of coal seams > surrounding rock strength > support setting load. It is necessary to strengthen the coordination of all influencing factors and comprehensively control the stability of the face-end roof exposed to repeated mining. Through the analysis of the regression model, it is found that there is no collinearity among the influencing factors, which has a significant influence on the regression equation and regression coefficient, and the multiple linear regression equation has a good fitting effect. The model can predict the stability of the face-end roof exposed to repeated mining, which provides a basis for controlling the face-end roof exposed to repeated mining.

This work depends on detailed petrographic and diagenetic processes studies of collected cutting rock samples, from the Late Jurassic Naokelekan Formation from Ajil-8, Balad-1 and Baiji-1 wells. Based on the thin sections study, the formation contains various petrographic components represented by pelecypods, calcispheres, planktonic and benthonic foraminifera, in addition to the groundmass of micrite and microspars. Many diagenetic processes affected the rock successions such as, compaction, micritization, authigenic minerals (pyrite), cementation, neomorphism, dissolution, porosity, replacement and dolomitization. The detailed microfacies analysis reveals that the rock successions consist mainly of three microfacies including; lime mudstone, which is divided into non-fossiliferous lime mudstone, bioclastic lime mudstone and planktonic foraminiferal lime mudstone, lime wackestone which also divided into calcispheres lime wackestone, benthonic lime wackestone, and pelcypodal lime wackestone, and lime packstone include, bioclastic lime packstone, peloidal lime packstone, and calcispheres lime packestone. The overall characters of these microfacies indicate the formation was deposited in two different environments: (1) shallow marine subtidal environment at the lower and upper parts (2) outer shelf in an euxinic environment at its middle part
