Multiple guided technologies based on radial probe endobronchial ultrasound for the diagnosis of solitary peripheral pulmonary lesions: a single-center study

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the value of multiple guided technologies based on radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (R-EBUS) in the application of the diagnosis of solitary pulmonary peripheral lesions (PPLs).Methods Analysis of diagnostic yield in 4 groups patients with different combined multiple guided technologies based on R-EBUS, 94 patients with 94 solitary PPLs from Mar, 2013 to Nov, 2014 in Changhai Hospital. Results The overall diagnostic yield was 75% (70/94), the diagnostic yield of Group A (R-EBUS) was 6… Show more

“…By analyzing the full text, 14 comparative studies which provided information for analysis were determined. Among these studies, four, including two with patients with less than 30 in each group, one with prominent selection bias beyond adjustment, and one with a latest update, were excluded from the analysis (Fig ).…”

“…Although we have new diagnostic equipment, lung cancer is still diagnosed at a late stage (1,2). In the past 5 years, novel targeted therapies with tyrosine kinase inhibitors based on the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), proto-oncogene B-Raf and v-Raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B (BRAF) and proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase ROS-1 (ROS-1) are used for treatment in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients (3).…”

“…International Publisher early results where an early detection program can reduce up to 20% of lung cancer deaths, however we still need to identify the population for screening and appropiate method [2]. We have novel diagnostic equipment for periferal nodules or masses such as the radial ebus and electromagnetic navigation (EMN) [3][4][5][6]. Moreover; cone beam ct is an additional equipment that we can use with both radial-ebus and EMN for a more efficient real time endobronchial navigation [7].…”
