Multiple criteria approach in the mining method selection

Abstract: Underground mining method selection is a very complex task for the mining engineers because the chosen method should fulfill the technical, economic and production requirements. Combining the criteria that cover different aspects of the mining operation and group decision-making increases the reliability of the decisions and minimize its subjectivity. The main objective of this paper is to propose the methodology for the underground mining method selection based on the Extended Pivot Pairwise Relative Criteria… Show more

“…The pivot pairwise relative criteria importance assessment (PIPRECIA) method for determining the weights of criteria was proposed by Stanujkic et al [46], as one of the extensions of the step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) method. Although it is a relatively new method, so far, the PIPRECIA method is applied for solving problems of personnel selection [47], assessment of ICT [48,49], supplier selection [50], mining method selection [51], and so forth.…”

“…The fuzzy logic in PIPRECIA method was introduced by [94]. Inclusion of fuzzy logic in decision-making increases the reliability of the decision by minimization of misjudgment possibility [95,96]. The main advantage of the PIPRECIA method is that it allows criteria evaluation without sorting by relevance [97].…”

“…Stević et al (2018) also introduced a fuzzy extension of the PIPRECIA method that is also used in the decision process (Đalić et al 2020a;Đalić et al 2020b;Memiş et al 2020;Vesković 2020). Extended PIPRECIA is applied for selecting an adequate mining method (Popović, Đorđević and Milanović 2019). In tourism, extended PIPRECIA is used to prioritize projects for developing accommodation facilities (Popović and Mihajlović 2018) and for ranking sustainable indicators for cultural heritage sites (Popovic et al 2019).…”
