Multicentric Cerebellopontine Angle Glioblastoma Multiforme

Abstract: Posterior fossa glioblastoma multiforme is a very rare childhood tumor with an extremely poor prognosis. There are only few cases of primary cerebellar glioblastoma described in the literature, and primary cerebellar glioblastoma presenting radiologically as a cerebellopontine angle mass lesion has not been reported previously. The authors report a multicentric glioblastoma multiforme in an 11-year-old child presenting predominantly as a cerebellopontine angle mass lesion, who finally expired 2 months after su… Show more

“…The first category of the CPA glioblastoma is an intraaxial tumor originated from brain stem or cerebellum with an exophytic growth into the CPA47,9,11). This type of GBM is rare, and especially cerebellar GBM with the exophytic growth pattern is very rare, and up to date, four cases have been reported in the literature2,4,5,11). Two cases showed exophytic growth into CPA, and the other two cases were in the crural/quadrigeminal cistern and cisterna magna, respectively.…”

“…We searched PubMed and Google Scholar and found only two English-language articles reporting the coexistence of multiple lesions and a CPA lesion [13, 14]. According to the literature, CPA glioblastomas may have different origins [15].…”

“…In addition, malignant primary CPA gliomas had also been described so far. Breshears et al [7] and Kasliwal et al [23] described a case of a primary glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) of the trigeminal nerve root entry zone and primary GBM of the oculomotor nerve [34,45], and the VIII cranial nerve [47] had also been reported.…”
