Multi‐Stimuli‐Responsive Polymeric Materials

Abstract: Stimuli-responsive materials are of immense importance because of their ability to undergo alteration of their properties in response to their environment. The properties of such materials can be tuned by subtle adjustments in temperature, pH, light, and so forth. Among such smart materials, multi-stimuli-responsive polymeric materials are of pronounced significance as they offer a wide range of applications and their properties can be tuned through several mechanisms. Here, we aim to highlight some recent stu… Show more

“…The interest for stimuli‐responsive self‐assembled “soft” molecular materials has been steadily increasing over the past decade . This increasing attention can be easily explained by the large variety of applications currently envisioned for adaptive/self‐healable dynamic supramolecular assemblies in material science, catalysis, sensing and electronics.…”

“…Although significantly progress has been made in the past decades, artificial stimuli responsive systems are far less sophisticated than natural polymers, that is, proteins that can respond to multi stimuli and changes assembly structures accordingly. Thus, multi‐responsive systems that respond to two or more stimuli have been investigated . For instance, Yang et al .…”

“…This fact requires storage of PEG‐ketal‐DMA as a powder or at basic pH. We were particularly interested in the degradation in slightly acidic environment, as it is present inside of the endolysosome in a cell (as low as pH 4.5) or in inflammatory/cancerous tissue (about pH 6.5) …”
