Multi-RATs support to improve V2X communication

Abstract: As the next generation of wireless system targets at providing a wider range of services with divergent QoS requirements, new applications will be enabled by the fifth generation (5G) network. Among the emerging applications, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication is an important use case targeted by 5G to enable an improved traffic safety and traffic efficiency. Since the V2X communication requires a low end-to-end (E2E) latency and an ultra-high reliability, the legacy cellular networks can not meet the s… Show more

“…Realistically, each of the two simulation types has different objectives, which are met by them independently. The simulators are developed along with the standard-compliant Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) / Long Term Evolution (LTE) 3rd Generation Partnership (3GPP) release-14 Sidelink radio technology and its integration into 5G network infrastructures [2]. Also, sidelink is known as PC5, which can facilitate the direct communication between the two ends of a C-V2X communication link.…”

“…The direct C-V2X communication through sidelink is a mode of communication whereby a User Entity (UE) can directly communicate with other UEs in its proximity over the PC5 air interface proposed in 3GPP [5]. This communication is a point-to-multipoint communication where several Rxs try to receive the same data packets transmitted from the Tx.…”

“…In order to support C-V2X communication, 5G should be able to provide a solution to support the high-reliability and high-availability, in the field of latency, Packet Reception Ratio (PRR) and other QoS parameters [4]. A lot of researches proposed direct C-V2X communication [3][4] [5], which means data packets are transmitted directly from the Transmitter (Tx) to the Receivers (Rxs) without going through the network infrastructures. Since no network infrastructures involved there is lower system transmission delay thereby leading to a better system performance.…”

“…In the current literature, various kinds of resource allocation schemes have been proposed to improve the reliability and delay performance of LTE-V systems [5]. For instance, in [6], [7] and [8], the wireless link level performance improvement using spectrum sharing, adaptive link assignment and power adjustment are reported respectively. In addition, the path loss, shadow fading and delay spread of the V2V channels have been analyzed in [9].…”
