Multi-Physics Fields Based Nonlinear Dynamic Behavior Analysis of Air Bearing Motorized Spindle

Abstract: The air bearing motorized spindle (ABMS) is the key component of the ultra-precision machine tool, which plays an important role in the ultra-precision machining process and directly influences machining accuracy. The influence of unbalanced magnetic force (UMF) on the nonlinear dynamic behavior of the ABMS is not understood clearly. To reveal the potential influence of the UMF, a mathematical model of the ABMS considering multiphysics fields is established. The variation trend of the UMF is simulated, and the… Show more

“…Due to the vanishingly low friction in the air, high wear resistance, and environmental friendliness, aerostatic bearings are used in machines, in particular, in machine tools, which are devices that require high accuracy of micro-movement and positioning [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. In mechanical engineering, aerostatic bearings are used in the spindle assemblies of metalcutting machine tools [9][10][11][12].…”

“…A large number of theoretical and experimental works have been published on various aspects of gas lubrication [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. The greatest demand for aerostatic bearings is observed in machine-tool construction when using aerostatic bearings in the spindle units of metalworking machines [9][10][11][12].…”
