Multi-path channel estimation methods for UMTS TDD

Abstract: This paper deals with channel estimation for the uplink of UMTS TDD. The transmission medium is characterized by multi-path propagation and the goal is to estimate the channel impulse response (CIR) with the use of training sequences. Tow channel estimation methods are proposed. The Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimator is unbiased, but it is more sensitive to noise.
