Multi-Objective Optimization of WEDM of Aluminum Hybrid Composites Using AHP and Genetic Algorithm

Abstract: Aluminum hybrid composites have the potential to satisfy emerging demands of lightweight materials with enhanced mechanical properties and lower manufacturing costs. There is an inclusion of reinforcing materials with variable concentrations for the preparation of hybrid metal matrix composites to attain customized properties. Hence, it is obligatory to investigate the impact of different machining conditions for the selection of optimum parameter settings for aluminum-based hybrid metal matrix composite mater… Show more

“…Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) [ 12 , 37 ] is a decision-making method for the complex and fuzzy problems, especially for those problems that are difficult to be analyzed quantitatively. Therefore, based on AHP, the weight influence analysis of the component features of biological UC can be carried out to remove the non-critical component features.…”

“… Step 4: Equation () was used to obtain the matrix's consistency ratio (CR). [ 64 ] The random index (RX) for five characteristic values was calculated using Table 11, which was 1.11 for N = 5. Consequently, the present study's CR was determined to be 0.0838.…”

“…Also, the quantitative and qualitative effects of drilling parameters were not put into consideration. Kumar et al [31] employed an analytical hierarchy process and genetic algorithm to select optimal machining parameters for the production of an aluminum metal matrix hybrid composite. In their work, multi-response optimization was considered, but the relationship between different parameters for the best material performance was not considered, which can make the maneuvering of the available machining parameters not easy.…”
