Multi-objective optimization of water distribution networks based on non-dominated sequencing genetic algorithm

Abstract: Due to the conflict between reducing cost and improving water supply performance, how to select the appropriate pipe diameter is a current challenge. In this paper, the problem is transformed into a multi-objective optimization problem, and the evolutionary genetic optimization algorithm is used to solve the problem to determine the optimal selection of pipe diameter in the pipe network. To solve this problem, the evolutionary genetic algorithm was coupled with EPANET hydraulic simulation software in Python en… Show more

“…Tao Wang et al used the AHP-FCE model to explore the creative design of 2022 World Cup lamps. Using the AHP-FCE model, the design scheme is quantitatively evaluated, and the relevant evaluation information of the design method is obtained [34]. Hu Sun et al used the AHP-FCE model to study reusable takeaway containers and proposed design suggestions [33].…”

“…Sometimes the papers address broader topics, like design and failure prevention [56]. More papers address mathematical approaches to optimization of performance, but there is little evidence that the outcomes are being implemented in utilities on a broad basis [57][58][59][60].…”

“…However, for larger-scale optimal scheduling problems, heuristic methods may be the only feasible solution method. Other commonly used heuristic algorithms include: fast non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) (Artina and Bragalli et al, 2012;Makaremi and Haghighi et al, 2017), NSGA-III (Tao and Yan et al, 2022), particle swarm optimization (PSO) (Patel and Goyal, 2016), ant colony optimization (ACO) (Afshar and Masoumi et al, 2015), and so on.…”
