Multi-objective optimal placement of protective devices on microgrid using improved binary multi-objective PSO

Abstract: SUMMARYThis paper proposes an improved binary multi-objectives particle swarm optimization (IB-MOPSO) for solving optimal multiple protective devices placement using improved reliability model in a microgrid (MG) system. The multi-objectives are to minimize system average interruption frequency index, system average interruption duration index, and total cost including investment and interruption cost. Binary multi-objectives PSO (B-MOPSO) is enhanced by using a bell shape function and three particle movement … Show more

“…The prominent meta-heuristic techniques addressed in the literature (Table 3) include: genetic algorithm (GA) and associated evolutionary algorithms with various variants as in [122,128,131,137,139,143,147,152,155,157,162,165,166]. Also, PSO with various variants have addressed SDN planning problems as in [125,127,130,132,138,158,163]. Furthermore, an improved variant of the teaching learning algorithm (ITLBO) [133] and bacterial foraging algorithm (MBFO) [134] have been employed for short term MO planning (scheduling) problems, respectively.…”

“…The second category includes the literature that has separately investigated the protective device placement. 7,[17][18][19][20][21] In Celli and Pilo, 7 an innovative method to find the optimal number and place of switches in distribution networks is presented using the Bellman equation optimal control. The feeder-switch relocation for preventing customer interruptions is presented in Teng and Lu 17 to increase reliability and minimization of the costs.…”
