“…In addition, reproducibility of Erytra results proved robust (100%). The effectiveness and performance of Erytra observed in this study are globally in line with those reported by Chang and colleagues in the United Kingdom (99.7% of concordance with respect to routine reference method), using the eight‐column format card instead of the traditional six‐column …”

“…In previous studies, such discrepant results were more frequently observed in reverse typing than in forward typing [314]. Especially, weak serum reactions are frequently observed with blood samples from immunocompromised patients, the elderly, and children [15].…”

“…Since the development of column agglutination technology over 20 years ago (Reis et al , ; Knight Poole ), commercial kits of column tests for pre‐transfusion purposes have progressively replaced conventional tube tests in most laboratories. Microtube gel column agglutination‐based cards are available in the traditional 6‐column format or lately in the 8‐column format card (Cid et al , ; Taylor et al , ), which provide in some cases a more complete test profile and simplify pre‐transfusion testing (Taylor et al , ). Despite these improvements, considerable amount of the work is still performed manually and results of the tests can be interpreted differently between operators.…”
