Multi-area MPLS/GMPLS Interoperability Trial Over 14-Vendor Packet/TDM/ROADM/OXC Network

Abstract: A multi-area MPLS/GMPLS interoperability trial was successfully conducted using various types of network elements from 14 vendors for the first time. The results show that the interior gateway routing protocol based multi-area routing architecture is a promising solution to achieve nationwide deployment of GMPLS networks within a carrier domain.

“…7 shows these activities, where we had started the interoperability tests on the basic GMPLS protocol suits, RSVP-TE, OSPF-TE and LMP, in a single domain network. After completing them, we have tried and successfully achieved ASON/GMPLS advanced functionalities, such as GMPLS protection & restoration [13], ASON-GMPLS interoperability [14], the perdomain routing [15] and the GMPLS inter-layer control [16].
