Abstract: Peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) is characterized by atherosclerotic lesions involving non-cardiac and non-cerebral arteries and disturbances in the axial vessels and at the microcirculatory level, which may lead to critical ischemia of lower limbs.
