MRT der Innenohr- und Kleinhirnbrückenwinkelregion mit einer 3D T2-gewichteten Turbo-Spin-Echo-Sequenz

Abstract: Accurate depiction of anatomic structures of the inner ear and cerebellopontine angle could be obtained by 3D T2-TSE only. The most accurate diagnosis in cases of pathology was provided by the combination of the 3D T2-TSE with unenhanced and enhanced 2D T1-weighted spin-echo sequences.

“…In contrast to studies of degenerative disease by using T2-SPACE [2][3][4][5][6][7] and the MR imaging anatomy study by Meindl et al, 8 our interobserver agreement for T2-SPACE ranged from slight to fair. It is unclear if this reflects any underlying difference in experience with this se- quence between the 2 reviewers.…”

“…The SPACE sequence is a proprietary 3D FSE sequence and is analogous to the VISTA (volume isotropic turbo spin-echo acquisition [Philips Healthcare, Best, the Netherlands]) sequence or Cube sequence (GE Healthcare, Milwaukee, Wisconsin). 1 Studies have evaluated the advantages of 3D T2WI sequences in brain 2 and head and neck imaging 3,4 ; however, there have only been a small number of studies investigating their value in spine MR imaging. [5][6][7] Most of these studies have compared the visualization of degenerative disease of the lumbar spine on conventional T2-FSE sequences versus 3D T2WI sequences.…”

“…Heavily T2-weighted 3D gradient echo sequences have stood the test of time in inner ear imaging. These techniques produce high-resolution isotropic images with a good SNR [ 4 , 14 , 15 ]. Their extremely high contrast between fluid and solid tissues is somehow counterbalanced by their comparatively poor contrast between individual kinds of tissue.…”

“…Using fast spin echo (FSE) techniques, a low slice thickness could be combined with a high in-plane spatial resolution [ 3 ]. It was 3D Fourier-transformed gradient echo sequences that made a slice thickness as low as 1 mm possible, enabling a more detailed delineation of the membranous labyrinth [ 4 , 5 ]. A true breakthrough came with the introduction of the 3D constructive interference in steady state (CISS) sequence which was introduced in the detailed analysis of the inner ear structures [ 6 ].…”
