Moxifloxacin Based Triple Therapy as Alternative to Standard Therapy in Helicobacter Pylori Eradication

Abstract: Introduction: Helicobacter pylori eradication remains a problematic issue. We are in an urgent need for finding a treatment regimen that achieves eradication at a low cost and less side effect. Recent published results showing a high rate of resistance and with clarithromycin-based treatment regimens. The aim of the study was to compare moxifloxacin therapy and classic clarithromycin triple therapy in H. pylori eradication. Methods: This was a pilot study that enrolled 60 patients with helicobacter pylori a… Show more

“…In our study, the usual triple therapy had a 75.2% H. pylori eradication rate, and other studies have reported rates between 61 and 77%. [27][28][29][30] In contrast to other studies, certain investigations 31,32 showed greater rates (85-94%). Therefore, it makes sense to assume that variations in eradication rates are correlated with the degree of adherence and/or the local susceptibility pattern of H. pylori in the investigated areas.…”

“…Ahmed et al conducted a comparative study between triple-therapy regimens utilizing moxifloxacin and clarithromycin. The study findings suggest that the rates of eradication were relatively high in the moxifloxacin-based therapy [20]. Similarly, Akpinar et al reported that moxifloxacin-based triple therapy was superior to bismuth-based quadruple therapy for the first-line treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection [15].…”
