Morphometric Variations of Rasbora Group (Pisces: Cyprinidae) in Lake Laut Tawar, Aceh Province, Indonesia, Based on Truss Character Analysis

Abstract: The genetic variation of Rasbora group in Lake Laut Tawar has been reported previously, however information on morphometric variations of this Genus was not available. Hence, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the morphometric characters of Rasbora group in Lake Laut Tawar, in order to contribute useful information on the biology of this important fish. The truss morphometric method was utilized in this study. A total of 45 samples of Depik, 42 samples of Eas and 44 samples of Relo were used in… Show more

“…Similarly, Rahman and Khan (2013) reported an asynchronous relationship between genetic and morphology data of 10 species from Parangipettai Waters, Southeast Coast of India. However, data of agreement was reported by Rasbora group in Lake Laut Tawar, Indonesia (Muchlisin 2013) and genus Kuhlia (Kuhlia xenura and K. sandvicensis) from O'ahu and Hawaii Islands (McRae 2007).…”

“…The supernatant was discharged, and the pellet was washed twice using 70% ethanol, and dried at room temperature for 30 minutes. After that, 60 µL of distilled water was added into the tube and the sample was kept at -20 °C for electrophoresis (Muchlisin et al 2013). The electrophoresis was conducted using 0.8 agaroses,100 voltage and the process lasted for 45 minutes.…”

“…Hence, conservation and aquaculture programmes for depik are crucially needed. Information of the physiology, ecology and genetics of the depik have been well documented (Muchlisin, , ; Muchlisin, Fadli, & Siti‐Azizah, ; Muchlisin, Musman, Fadli, & Siti‐Azizah, ; Muchlisin, Musman, & Siti‐Azizah, ; Muchlisin, Rinaldi, Fadli, Adlim, & Siti‐Azizah, ). These basic data are essential for aquaculture and conservation development programmes.…”
