Morfologia dos esporos das espécies de Leucobryaceae Schimp. (Bryophyta) do Parque Estadual de Ilha Grande, Município de Angra dos Reis, Estado do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract: -(Spore morphology of Leucobryaceae Schimp. (Bryophyta) species in the Parque Estadual de Ilha Grande, Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro State). The present study aimed to analyze the spore morphology of Leucobryaceae species occurring in the Parque Estadual da Ilha Grande, Ilha Grande Municipality, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. Spores of six species distributed in two genera, were analyzed: Leucobryum albicans Schwaegr., L. clavatum Hampe, L. crispum C. Muell., L. martianum (Hornsch.) Hampe ex C. Muell., Octoble… Show more

“…Sim-Sim et al (2017) reconstructed the phylogeny of this genus using morphological and anatomical characters, and indicated six species for the genus: Amphidium lapponicum, A. mougeotii, A. tortuosum, A. californicum, A. curvipes, and A. asiaticum. Palynological studies dealing with bryophyte species have made important advances since the 1980s regarding the taxonomy, ecology, and phylogeny of the group (Mogensen 1981;Luizi-Ponzo & Barth 1998;1999;Luizi-Ponzo & Melhem 2006a;b;Caldeira et al 2006;2009;Rocha et al 2008;Savaroglu & Erkara 2008;Alfayate et al 2013;Rodrigues & Luizi-Ponzo 2015;Silva-e-Costa et al 2017). However, studies on Amphidium have focused mostly on morphological and molecular characters (Rooy 1992;Goffinet et al 1998;Stech 1999;Farge et al 2000;2002;Frahm et al 2000;Tsubota et al 2003;Hedderson et al 2004;Stech 2004;Stech & Frey 2008;Stech et al 2012;Sim-Sim et al 2017), with palynological information on its species remaining rare (Hirohama 1977) or only briefly summarized in some taxonomic studies (Rooy 1992;Gradstein et al 2001;Allen 2002), in which they were described as "subrounded", "small", "apparently ornamented", "slightly papillose" or "having a smooth sporoderm".…”

“…Spore morphology and ontogeny are important for evaluating bryophytes taxonomy and phylogeny, as evidenced by several studies (Clarke 1979;Horton 1982;Mishler & Churchill 1984;Blackmore & Barnes 1987;Brown & Lemmon 1980;1984a;b;1988;1991;Estébanez et al 1997;Luizi-Ponzo et al 1997;Caldeira et al 2006;Luizi-Ponzo & Melhem 2006a;b;Yano & Luizi-Ponzo 2006;2011;Savaroglu et al 2007;Rocha et al 2008;Savaroglu & Erkara 2008;Alfayate et al 2013;Brown et al 2015;Rodrigues & Luizi-Ponzo 2015;Savaroglu 2015;Savaroglu et al 2017;Silva-e-Costa et al 2017). Nonetheless, data are still scarce for Erpodiaceae (Erdtman 1965), or have been reported in taxonomic studies (Pursell 1966;1994;Crum 1972;Yano 1984;Yano & Santos 1993;Stone 1997;Pursell & Allen 2002;Daniels et al 2012).…”

“…Many studies on spores have addressed different aspects of various groups (Heckman 1970;Blackmore & Barnes 1987;Brown & Lemmon 1980;1984a;b;1988;1991;Estébanez et al 1997;Luizi-Ponzo & Barth 1998;Luizi-Ponzo & Melhem 2006;Caldeira et al 2006;Yano & Luizi-Ponzo 2006;Rocha et al 2008;Rodrigues & Luizi-Ponzo 2015;Savaroğlu 2015;Savaroğlu et al 2017;Silva-e-Costa et al 2017). However, little is known about morphology of the spores of the genus Plagiochila.…”
