Monthly fresh water yield analysis of three solar desalination units a comparative study in the south Algeria climatic condition

Abstract: The Purpose of the paper is studied three types solar distillers, double slope with and without immersed fins and the simple solar distiller. A monthly comparative study is investigated experimentally, for a long period of the year. Further, the wind speed influence, the distance between fins, the fins height, the fins number and thickness, on the solar distiller's production, is investigated theoretically. From the obtained results, it is noted that for the wind speed greater than 3.5 m/s, a decrease in the p… Show more

“…1) in the DXK River and its main tributaries. During the collection, a YSI (Yellow Springs Instrument Co) water quality meter and other portable water quality analyzers were adopted to measure the following indices of the surface water samples: temperature, pH, oxidation reduction potential (ORP), conductivity and dissolved oxygen (DO) (Moungar et al, 2018;Uddin et al, 2017;Zhao et al, 2016Zhao et al, , 2019. Meanwhile, the surface sediments were collected with a gravity column sampler (Behaddya and Hadjel, 2014;Bhuiyan et al, 2010;Wang et al, 2016).…”

“…Using Curve Expert software, we test the equations of the above models on water content (Xeq) curves as a function of water activity (aw) for different samples at temperatures of 40, 50 and 60 ° C [31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39].…”

“…They are also useful during a solar drying process. Indeed, it is from these sorption curves that we can determine the final product water content, so as to ensure the physicochemical and microbiological stability during the storage, in addition the product shelf life can be predicted [1][2][3][4][5][6]. studies on sorption isotherms are carried out by mathematical modeling, eight mathematical models (in the literature) empirical and semi-empirical based on more or less physical bases [7][8][9][10], describing the correlation of water content with balance with the water activity of the products.…”

“…The rising temperature melts ice in polar regions, elevates the sea level and triggers various environmental problems (Liu et al, 2018;Jódar et al, 2017;Rad et al, 2017). For example, the temperature variation may cause changes in water evaporation and precipitation, exerting certain impacts on terrestrial hydrology and water resources (Ademila and Saloko, 2018;Baker, 2017;Mcknight, 2017;Moungar et al, 2018;Na et al, 2017). The redistribution of water resources in turn increases the chance of floods and droughts, tilts the ecological balance, and even endangers the survival of humans and other living things on Earth (Seiller et al, 2017;Dile et al, 2018;Zhao et al, 2017).…”
